This Privacy Policy explains how DaDalabs Pty Ltd ("DaDa", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores and discloses your personal information when you use the DaDa mobile application (the "App"). We are committed to handling your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
DaDa is a free mobile community app for Australian, 18-and-over, phone-verified users. Users join topic-based communities and post content. We are based in Australia and our first area of operation is Victoria.
These attributes are used to match you to communities you are eligible to join, and to target the advertising you see. You can change the visibility of most attributes in the App, and this is enforced on our servers, not just in the interface.
Some information we collect — in particular your nationality / country of origin — may be "sensitive information" under the Privacy Act. We collect this only where you choose to provide it, and by providing it you consent to us collecting and using it for the purposes described in this Policy (community eligibility and ad targeting). You are not required to provide sensitive information, and you can remove it at any time.
We use the following service providers to run the App. Some of them may store or process personal information outside Australia, which is an overseas disclosure under APP 8.
| Provider | Purpose | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, authentication, realtime | Sydney, Australia |
| Cloudflare (R2) | Storage of media, avatars, thumbnails and documents | May be stored or processed outside Australia |
| Resend | Transactional email (e.g. password reset, student verification) | United States |
| Sentry | Crash and error reporting (with personal-data scrubbing) | European Union |
| Apple, Google | App distribution and push notifications | Overseas |
Advertisers and merchants. Advertising is targeted using your profile attributes, but advertisers and merchants receive only aggregate campaign reporting. We do not give advertisers your individual identity or contact details.
We may also disclose personal information where required or authorised by law, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.
Our primary database is hosted in Sydney, Australia. We apply access controls and server-side privacy rules, encrypt data in transit, and scrub personal data from error reports. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access.
We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy or as required by law. Some content in the App expires automatically over time. You can request deletion of your account by contacting us (see section 11). Some information may be retained in de-identified or aggregated form, or where we are legally required to keep it.
You can view and update most of your information directly in the App. You may also ask us to access or correct the personal information we hold about you by contacting us. We will respond within a reasonable time.
DaDa is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 is using the App, please contact us.
If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we will respond in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme under the Privacy Act, including notifying affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) where required.
If you have a question, a request about your information, or a privacy complaint, contact us at support@dadalabs.net. We will acknowledge and investigate your complaint. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App.
